Director

Jan Glosser

Jan Glosser taught Pre-K at Covenant for eight years before becoming the Director of the school. Both of her daughters are alums of the program. Jan grew up in Dallas and graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with her B.S. in Elementary Education. She taught 3-5 year old students in a private preschool setting, taught kindergarten and first grade in public school, and taught adults technology training in Boston, where she received her Master’s Degree from Simmons College in Children’s Literature.

After relocating back to Austin, she and her husband, Jeff, an Executive Director of Gift Planning at The University of Texas, have focused on raising their family of three children. Jenny is a 2nd grade teacher, Cole just graduated from UT, and Delaney is a sophomore at UT.

She says:

As the director I wear many hats.  I love visiting with the children and spending time in chapel with the older ones.  I’m in charge of maintaining a quality staff of teachers, and I feel we have a great group of talented people who love what they do.  I try to support the parents and help them feel welcome at our school.  Behind the scenes I’m doing the school’s accounting and the planning and organizing of school events.  Ultimately, I’m charged with making sure that our school meets and exceeds both the state’s minimum standards and also the higher standards that are required of an excellent preschool program.

Teachers

Ms. Bea

Ms. Bea is our 3 day 3’s teacher. She graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Applied Learning and Development(Elementary Education) and taught for 9 years at Wells Branch Elementary before staying at home with her children.

Both of Ms. Bea’s children attended CUMC Preschool, and she quickly fell in love with the staff and tight knit community. She served on the Preschool Council as the Communications Coordinator and President. She joined the staff as a substitute and later as an aide.

Ms. Bea enjoys volunteering at her children’s elementary school, cooking, traveling, and organizing.

Ms. Ginger

Ms. Ginger teaches one of our Pre-K classes at Covenant UMC Preschool.  She holds a BS in Applied Learning and Development from UT and worked in various elementary classroom settings for nine years before staying home with her own children.

Ms. Ginger started teaching at Covenant UMC Preschool in 2010 after all three of her children attended the preschool and she served on the Preschool Council.

In her free time, she enjoys camping, reading, walking her family dog and traveling with her family.

She says:

Teaching is a passion of mine because I love the experience of watching my student’s excitement as they learn a new skill or make a new friend.

Ms. Katy

Ms. Katy is one of our Pre-K teachers.  She grew up in a suburb of Houston, but got to Austin as soon as she could.  She graduated from UT with a degree in Applied Learning and Development and started her first job in the same school where she did her student teaching.  She taught Kindergarten and 2nd grade for 10 years in Pflugerville ISD before deciding to stay home with her kids.

Ms. Katy joined the CUMC Preschool family in 2014 when her oldest son started in Ms. Jenny’s 3’s class and her middle son joined Ms. Kelly’s 1’s.  Her youngest son just graduated the preschool and is off to Kindergarten.  She has subbed at the preschool for 3 years as well as served as the Volunteer Coordinator for the Preschool Administrative Council before joining the staff as a 3’s teacher last year.

Outside of the preschool, you’ll find her volunteering in her sons’ classes at Davis, teaching barre classes, or out enjoying Austin with her family.  She is so excited to be back in the classroom.

Ms. Kelly

Ms. Kelly is our lead teacher in the one’s class at Covenant UMC Preschool.  Before joining the school full-time she worked here as a substitute teacher for three years.  She has a business background as well as having worked as a Cub Scout volunteer, room mom, and as an assistant at her two sons’ schools.

She says:

I love teaching at Covenant UMC Preschool because I love to play and I love the little ones.  I believe, as does the preschool, that playing is important to a child’s development and that it lays the groundwork for future learning.  I hope to foster a love of learning in the children through my interactions with them.

When not indoors at the preschool, Ms. Kelly likes to be outside in the sunshine biking, swimming, or walking.  If it is July in Austin, she is an avid fan of the Zilker Hillside Summer Musical.

Ms. Sarah

Ms. Sarah is the lead teacher for the M/T/W/Th three’s class. She has a degree in Psychology from the University of Texas, and she did the Post Baccalaureate program at UT for education. She taught first grade for nine years at Summitt Elementary until she became a stay at home mom.

She has three kids that attended Covenant Preschool, and she loved the school so much that she decided to sub after they all graduated from Pre-K. She also became a floating aide soon after that.

When she’s not at the preschool she spends a lot of time driving her three kids around to all of their sports activities.  She also enjoys exercising, volunteering at Davis Elementary and spending time with her nieces.
